Black ops 2 - Guide
Vector K10 - Review
This gun handles really nice. It is fairly small and compact, so it doesn't take up too much space on the screen. I've never felt that this gun is too big playing either solo or split screen. The recoil just works for me. It is very predictable, always up. I usually need quite a few bullets to get the guy and I need a little more time to focus on target, so I like that the bullets fly on target after a few initial shots. Muzzle flash is well below the weapon sights, so I have no problem following a smaller target when I am full auto. I'm not really a fan of totally open iron sights, but these work. I know instinctivly where the point is that bullets fly to. I don't have to think is it in the middle of the sights, or higher or lower.
The damage feels fine to me. Looking at the stats, the weapon is nothing special and the damage drop-off is nothing that will stand out from the other guns. The fact that a lot of bullets hit the target because of very manageable recoil helps with this gun feeling strong. In very close situations I will be outpowered and outgunned. But I will be that anyway because of the lag/lag compensation. It's mostly close to medium range fights that I find myself in when using a submachine gun and this is the range that this weapon excells for me.
Reload time of this weapon feels proper. It does not feel the fastest of the reloads, but it's not really hampering my game. I do not feel I need be using a fast mag attachment with it. The magazine size is pretty solid, I can dispatch 2 villains a vast majority of time and I don't really think I should be taking my chances against more than two at a time. So I also don't feel the need to add extended mags on it.
My normal attachments for this gun are fore grip and laser sight. Laser sight because my game is run & gun style. There are times I'm more effective when I can just react and shoot and not focus that much on accuracy that aiming down the sights gives. I find fore grip the attachment that gives me most advantage on long distances. Rapid fire would be one of those "obvious" attachments to pick, but I don't like how the recoil feels. I also don't like to use the silencer, because hearing gunshots makes me more engaged in the game and focus more. As for perks, the ones that I use are Flak jacket, Toughness and Tactical mask. Even though I could probably gain more from Lightweight and Dexterity, I feel that with all those bouncing betties and shock charges these perks fit my SMG run & gun style better.
Vector K10 - Final
Overall I like this weapon. I'm not particularly fond of submachine guns, even though majority of people swear by them in this game. I just lag or am lag compensated too much for using SMGs well. However this is the first weapon I've max prestiged and when I pick up a submachine gun this is the one that I choose. I don't find any of the submachine guns powerful enough, so I usually choose the one that I find the most accurate and that is Vector K10.
Scorpion - Review
I love the way this gun looks. For me, this is best looking submachine gun in this game. Iron sights have two red dots, similar to the green dots that MP7 has. For some reason those MP7 green dots bother me, but these two red ones are quite OK. I use laser sight on this gun and it makes this gun look even better. Aiming with this gun is quite solid, not much is blocked and the sights are quite intuitive. Recoil visually looks quite solid. Muzzle flash has no effect on aiming. The sound of this gun is quite good. Looking at this weapon, looking at the stats one might think this is a really good weapon. OK range is a bit weak, but with 1200 rounds per minute, this gun should be amazing at any distance, right? Wrong!
Rate of fire is so fast that the only thing you see is reload animations. I usually need about 20 bullets to kill someone and that is more than half a clip. This gun really feels weak. It feels like only every second bullet registers. At a first glance there is no reason why this gun should be so bad. I think that the problem is a slight recoil to the left and right. It is just big enough to make you miss your opponents. It looks like the movement is very small, but apparently that is enough. I can usually manage 1 kill per clip, maybe 2 kills. All these problems become even bigger with lag/lag compensation. Even hip fire up close seems inaccurate. Reload feels fast and animation is solid.
I was trying to chose attachments for this gun, that would somehow make this gun good. The first thing that came to mind and seemed logical at the time was rapid fire. Hey, if you can't beat it, join it. Well, I guess there are some flaws in my logic. Rapid fire made this gun spew bullets faster than terminator on fast forward. All I did was reload. Suppressor is something I don't use because it doesn't suit my game play. I meet people mostly head-on, so not much use in being silent. Fore grip seems useless, long barrel doesn't really help much. All the scopes seem too bulky, except the red dot. What really surprised me was that adding fire selector actually made this gun better. It reduced the effects of recoil and helped me save ammo. Kills mostly took 3 bursts, 9 bullets in total. I mostly use this gun with laser sight and fire selector, almost like some sort of S12 shotgun. Maybe combination of fire selector with red dot is the better choice for some games, but I can't really say which combination is better. I use the same run & gun perks that I use with MSMC. They are perk 1 greed, perk 2 greed, lightweight, flak jacket, toughness, extreme conditioning and dexterity.
Scorpion - Final thoughts
I don't like this gun. I just don't play good with it. I am pathetic with it on medium and long distances. I have a feeling that only every second bullet registers. When I use it, it use it just for sake of completing all the titles. At least Treyarch saved the worst for last and gave you the option of immediately knowing that this gun is garbage (with default classes). This assessment might be harsh, but while all the other submachine guns are somewhat balanced, this one is way worse. Improving the weapon that can fire 1200 rounds per minute with a fire selector tells it all.
S12 - Review
S12 is semiautomatic shotgun model patterned after the legendary AK-47. That can be seen from the gun design itself. Because AK has a huge sentimental value for me, I have to say that this gun looks awesome. Iron sights are a classic, as expected. Aiming with these sights is quite intuitive. Weapon model is quite compact, doesn't take much screen space and it doesn't block much view.
Apart from the gun design, there are very few things that I could praise this weapon for. It is possible to kill your opponent in one, teo shots on very close distances. As soon as the distance increases, you need to fire 5 or 6 shots to achieve anything. This weapon s simply to weak for some serious use. The magazine holds 10 shells, what seems quite a lot for a semiautomatic shotgun. In reality this is way to few shells. Reload time takes too much time, so fast mag is quite a solid choice. Reload animation is good.
The attachments I normally play with are quite usual for a shotgun. Laser sight and long barrel. In order to make this gun somewhat usable, I use Primary gunfighter and fast mags attachment. Long barrel is quite the obvious choice, to improve the range of the gun. Laser sights are for improve the hip fire pellet spread. Other available attachments don't really help in improving this weapon. Perks that I normally use are Lightweight, Toughness and Dexterity. Ene of the variants that could be used are Ghost and Suppressor. This way you could play a stealth tactics similar to the one that those knife-only monkeys play.
S12 - Final words
It is hard to find any good words about this weapon, let alone phrases. Its range is simply too short. On normal operating ranges you need up to 5 shots to kill an opponent and that is definitely too much for a shotgun. I just don't see any reason why should this gun be used over R870 or KSG. I am thinking what else could I write about S12, but there is no point. This gun is simply not good enough for anything.

R870 - Review
This, in my eyes, is the only true shotgun in the game. It has the classical pump action look, as it should. For some reason it looks a bit short, but that just makes it looks more evil. Bullet holders to the left add to that evil look. The sound of the gun is very nice, it is more of a low pitched shotgun shot. The gun is small and it doesn't take up much space. Iron sights are good for a shotgun, as you don't need to be too accurate with it.
The gun is a standard pump action shotgun. It has 8 bullets and that is an easy 5, 6 kills for me before reload. I usually manage to kill a guy with just one shot, but there are times that I am just outside of the effective range of this shotgun and I have to fire 2, maybe 3 shots to get the job done. Time between the shots doesn't feel too long for me. The range of this gun is close, there is no point to even bother at medium and long distances as it won't register any damage. While I wish range was a bit longer, it works. For a shotgun, it's range is second best. This weapon is especially good on Hijacked, but I've used it with success on every map. You just need to get used to its range and avoid open corridors. Reload time feels OK for a shotgun, I only wish that cancel would be quicker. Right now if I'm caught reloading, I'm dead. Reload animation is good.
There are two sets of attachments that I can't really decide on. One pair is long barrel and quick draw, the other is long barrel and laser sight. Long barrel is pretty obvious as it improves the range if the shotgun. It is almost mandatory to put it on every shotgun. Laser sight seems logical as it improves the pellet spread and it significantly increases the hip fire range. On the other hand I've noticed that I'm much better on very close ranges when hip firing without the laser sight. That is why I also use the other option of quick draw and long barrel. For every longer distance I aim down the sights and a bit more wider hip fire spread is useful for really close distances. I usually use Perk 1 greed, Perk 3 greed, Lightweight, Flak Jacket, Toughness, Extreme conditioning and Dexterity, to maximize my rushing speed and abilities.
R870 - Final thoughts
This is the best shotgun for me. It does exactly what a shotgun should. This is the best weapon to use on close distances. In addition to it's deadliness, this gun is also a beauty to look at. There is nothing I love more than rushing three snipers on top of the crashed plane in Turbine with my R870. The only downside to this gun is that you need to learn it's effective range.
PDW-57 - Review
I don't get the love this gun gets. When I'm thinking what are the things I like about this gun it always comes to only one thing: It has a large clip. It has this yellowish, brown color and it has this wide look. The clip is supposed to be similar to the one that P90 has, but this one looks more like a fish can. I like how reload animation is done, but I hate that clip. Even though the gun is big, I've never had a feeeling that the gun is blocking my aiming view. I've performed quite good with iron sights, so that's a plus. They're not the best sights, but they work and that's what counts.
This gun is solid up close. Spray and pray hip fire is solid. It's just that other submachine guns feel stronger. It has slower rate of fire and it shows, especially on distance. The moment I fired it on some medium target I felt oh boy now I know why it has a large clip. It is very important to hit the first few shots. They are grouped quite nicely together, but if you miss with them, your ammo will simply vaporize. Gun can sometimes drift to the right, sometimes a little upwards, but most of the time it fires to the center. Even though clip has 50 bullets, this gun is a borderline 3 kill for me. At times it is just so frustrating to play with it when there is noticeable lag/lag compensation in the match. There were games that I was getting killed in a lot while using this gun. Then I switched to MSMC, that has the same fire rate as PDW, and I dominated. It could be just me having some mental block with this gun, I really am not sure. This gun being used that much by other players confuses me. Reload feels long. You can maybe cancel it a bit at the end and that maybe makes it a bit faster, but still... Slow.
I tried rapid fire with this gun, but it just starts jumping around a lot more. Almost to the point that it negates all the good things big clip provides. Close range gets better, but that's about it. Red dot and fore grip improve this gun on medium distances. If you're using primary gunfighter then a combo of laser sight, red dot sight and fore grip would be solid attachments. Even though I like the clip, red dot improved my kill ratio with this gun a lot. These attachments made the gun quite useful to me actually, but then again, there are other options that are better with the same setup. I've also played more close range (shotgun range) and laser scope with fast mag plays quite nicely. However, if you get opponents with shotgun, you will die. A lot.
PDW-57 - Final thoughts
I don't like this gun. I tried and I tried and it was mostly OK, OK, meh, solid, love the clip, eh respawn, meh, respawn. Maybe if I wasn't lagging, then I'd like this gun, I'm not sure. I prefer shotguns on short ranges, they are the superior weapon in close quarters. I use a submachine gun when I know I might need it also in a medium, semi-long situations. Without the setup of red dot, fore grip and laser sight I don't find this gun useful on those distances. If I had to use primary gunfighter, I'd rather put the extended clip on Vector K10 and squeeze that additional kill out of it.
MSMC - Review
This gun reminds me of uzi and that is actually one of the reasons this gun wasn't love at first sight for me. Many players swear by this submachine gun and it's a remarkable weapon. Aiming with it is quite intuitive. Iron sights are ugly, but they work and that's all that matters. Gun is quite slim and it's not blocking much vision except a little bit of the lower part. Muzzle flash is not affecting the aim. The sound of the weapon is nothing special and overall the gun just doesn't look dangerous to me.
The recoil of this weapon at first seems big, but it is actually quite manageable. The best part about the recoil is that it doesn't get worse with longer bursts, up to 15 shots. First few shots almost always go up and the weapon is very predictable. This with the addition of high damage makes this gun feel strong. It is a 3 shot kill on close distances and a 4 shot kill on medium distances. The rate of fire is nothing exceptional, but distance and recoil make up for it. It feels that with a slower rate of fire all the bullets register as they should. This is especially noticeable when you lag. This gun doesn't even feel that it's a 6 shot kill on distance. I can use this weapon comfortably on all distances, but the distances that it really excels at are medium ones.
The weapon is an easy 3 kill, 10 bullets per kill or 2 kill when playing against good opponents. Even though the number of bullets in a magazine is low, the power of the weapon makes the mag feel about the same than the one that PDW-57 has. Reload feels slow and the reload animation is nothing special. I use fast mag with this weapon sometimes and reload time is much better. Fast mag could be an option for this gun.
As for other attachments for this weapon. Fore grip feels useless. Rapid fire makes this gun worse for me. It just wobbles around and the weapon becomes a 1 kill per magazine for me. I don't use silencers with a majority of weapons, because gunshots make me more aware and i enjoy the game more. The usual attachments I use are laser sight and extended mag. Laser sight to improve my chances in close range encounters. Extended mags are not an essential attachment, it's just the one I prefer. There is also an interesting combination of fire selector and one of the scopes. This combination makes this really accurate and it plays almost like a rifle. When choosing the scope, I almost always go for the red dot, because it's least bulky. I use a little bit different perks than usual for MSMC. I use perk 1 greed and perk 3 greed then lightweight, flak jacket, toughness, extreme conditioning and dexterity. These perks give me the maximum run & gun style. Lightweight makes me faster, flak jacket makes me dodge betties, extreme conditioning helps me run longer and dexterity readies my gun faster after sprint. I use my normal combo of flak jacket, toughness and tactical mask when I plan to use also secondary weapons and tactical equipment.
MSMC - Final thoughts
It is hard to decide which gun is better. This one or Vector K10. MSMC feels more powerful and Vector K10 feels more accurate. To be honest I decide on looks. I don't like the design of uzi and I don't like the design of this look-alike. I like the sci-fi look of Vector K10 more and that is why I choose it. There are times I'll be better with MSMC and times when I'm better with Vector. A lot of it depends on lag and my opponents. On the majority of maps that I like, this gun might even perform better than Vector.
MP7 - Review
There are times that I absolutely love this gun and times that I keep getting killed over and over while using it. The gun is quite compact and it doesn't take up much screen space. Muzzle flash is not bothering the aim. What is annoying me are those two big green dots that are on the iron sights. They tend to confuse me just enough at times that I get my aim off. While there is a logical small green dot to show me where I need to aim, for some reason I notice that quite often I'm aiming with that dot above the head. Iron sights are not bad, I just can use them instinctively.
The reason that this gun is unpredictable is that recoil is random. Gun can fire dead on straight, it can pull up or it can move to the right. And you never know which one is going to be. This is the only negative (and a huge negative for me) about this weapon. It is quite often that the recoil to the right gets me killed. A lot of times I have to fire around 20 bullets on medium distances to get the job done and this is enough time for better players to kill me. When you manage to keep the sights on the target, this gun is amazing, too bad it doesn't happen all the time. Hip fire on this gun is good, so it is very solid on close distances. The power of this weapon is tied to it's recoil and lag/lag compensation. It just feels inconsistent. I try to stay away from medium/long distance engagements when using just iron sights on this gun. I've seen quite a few guys being very successful with this gun on longer distances, I assume their connection is better than mine.
The clip size is solid and reload time feels just fine. No need to use fast mags on this gun. 40 bullets are easy 2 kills, borderline 3 kills. I don't really see the point for extended mags. Reload animation is solid and clear.
The normal attachments I use on this gun are fore grip and laser sight. These are my two most used attachments on submachine guns. Laser sight is to help with hip fire on close distances and fore grip to reduce the effects of recoil on longer distances. The perks I use are flak jacket, toughness and tactical mask. People love them betties and I don't like to be stopped by those pancakes. Shock charges are their evil cousins and I don't want to be bothered by them also. I use mostly low score streaks, so I don't benefit much from hardline. I prefer toughness to cold blooded for second perk. The other great attachments for this gun are red dot + laser sight combo. This improves the gun a lot on medium distances. I don't really use silencer and I don't really see this gun benefiting more from any other attachments. Rapid fire seems a logical choice, but while that attachment improves my close range time to kill it worsens my accuracy on medium and longer ranges.
MP7 - Final thoughts
Overall this gun is solid. Even though I keep repeating myself about the unpredictable recoil of this gun, the only reason I don't use it more is that there are better options out there for me. I don't hate this gun, I love the look of MP7 in real life, I like how it performs in game, but for serious business I just love my Vector more. The fact that this gun was in Modern Warfare 3 is also the reason this gun is branded into my brain as a classic and I use it from time to time.
